SIMON RUSSO

Simon picked up his first guitar at 14 and never looked back. His love affair with music began in the 1980s punk, post-punk and new-wave scenes, and over the years he’s played in bands from the '90s right through to today developing a special passion for '50s and rockabilly music along the way.

 

A largely self-taught guitarist (acoustic, electric and bass), Simon deepened his formal training during a stint in London studying at the London School of Music. While guitar remains his weapon of choice, he’s equally comfortable on keyboard, upright bass and drums giving him a broad perspective on arranging, rhythm and ensemble work.

 

Now based in Napier, Simon loves sharing that breadth of experience with students of all ages and styles. He’s committed to creating lessons that are fun, hands-on and tailored to each player’s musical journey
