Joel’s love for music began at 14, when he first picked up the bass and guitar. What started as curiosity quickly became a lifelong passion, leading him to perform in bands including PUNCHING, where he developed his skills as both a musician and collaborator.
In 2010, Joel completed a Diploma in Audio Engineering and Music Production at MAINZ in Auckland, deepening his understanding of performance and the technical and creative processes behind recording and producing music. This combination of hands-on playing experience and formal training allows him to guide students in both musical expression and practical musicianship.
As a father of two, Joel brings patience, perspective, and a grounded approach to teaching. He is passionate about helping students build confidence, develop strong fundamentals, and discover their own unique sound, whether they’re picking up an instrument for the first time or refining their craft
